Independent digital works

Digital works offer Emily a different kind of studio space. Using a tablet and stylus, she can layer colour, texture, and line quickly, shifting between crisp edges and loose, unruly mark making. The process feels less physical than paint, the mark appears on screen rather than through direct contact, but that distance becomes part of the work, a new way to test instinct, control, and chance.
These pieces bring the same interests that run through her painting practice, expression, distortion, and emotion held in image, but translated through a brighter, more immediate surface. The digital page also includes short comic works, where text and sequence allow ideas to unfold across panels.
Created using Wacom and iPad workflows, including Krita, Procreate, and Premiere Pro.

Emily also produces short video works that extend her painted language into movement and sound. In these pieces she wears acrylic poured masks, patterned with uncanny details, and performs slow, improvised gestures to her own audio. Bodies twist, pause, and repeat, turning the mask into a shifting surface rather than a fixed object.
Nature motifs sit alongside the grotesque. Flowers, textures, and organic patterning are set against darker, abstract notes of horror, creating a tension between beauty and unease. The videos work as small atmospheres, part performance, part moving image collage, built through rhythm, costume, and sound design.
Shot on a Canon EOS 40D and edited in DaVinci Resolve.
